Source: Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee (WHSSC)

The Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee (WHSSC) would like your views on the proposal to locate a single adult thoracic surgery centre at Morriston Hospital in Swansea serving patients from south east Wales, west Wales, and south Powys.

This would be one of the largest thoracic surgery centres in the UK and is intended to provide long term sustainability, the ability to treat more patients and deliver a centre of excellence for the region.

Please visit their website at the following link to read about the work WHSSC have carried out so far to arrive at this proposal, how they believe the changes will benefit the people of south Wales and how a decision will be made on the future provision of thoracic surgery in south Wales: http://www.whssc.wales.nhs.uk/thoracic-surgery-services-in-south-wales

This page also carries a link to Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Thoracic Surgery and links to more information relating to the consultation in your area.

Local Health Boards are also holding Consultation Events which can be found on the linked website.

This consultation has been rated “response desirable”.  We would be grateful if you were to therefore respond with any views and comments.

In order to allow time for our authorisation process we would need to receive any comments by 13th August 2018 via email to Policy.PublicAffairs.Wales@rcn.org.uk or using the ‘Have Your Say’ page on the above tab.
