Choose event information:
You are warmly invited to join us for the Greater Liverpool and Knowsley branch's AGM re-run, taking place on Tuesday 25 November from 6pm.
Led by your branch exec team, this is an opportunity to elect a new branch exec, and review the previous year's business.
The meeting is also your opportunity to have your say on the activities and learning events that your branch undertakes. Please come along and get involved if you can to make your voice heard on the topics that concern you and the work of the RCN.
All members employed in workplaces in the Liverpool and Knowsley areas will be automatically enrolled as a member of this branch.
This meeting is taking place online on Microsoft Teams.
What is an AGM?
Your branch AGM is when you and your fellow local members can review the branch's activities over the previous year and plan branch meetings, learning events and activities for the year ahead.
Branch Governance
The AGM is also the time you elect your branch committee members. There can be up to six members of the branch committee but they must include the Chair, Treasurer and Secretary. Anyone can put themselves forward for a branch committee role. If a role is contested than an election may be held to decide who takes up that post.
Being on the branch committee is a great personal and professional development opportunity. Find out more about what each role involves with our branch role descriptions page or come along to our branch role explainer event in September - find out more and book your place here.
If you are interested in applying for a role then please complete our online form and direct any queries to our North West Regional Administrator Joanne Maguire on joanne.maguire@rcn.org.uk
The RCN is proud of the diversity of the UK’s nursing workforce and our membership. We encourage nominations from groups currently under-represented in our governance structures, including those who identify as women, members from the Global Majority, LGBTQ+ community, neurodivergent and disabled members as well as from members working in any sector, whether employed by the NHS or in independent health and social care settings.
Representatives
If you are an accredited rep, the AGM is the time when the branch will decide to retain your accreditation, or in some rare cases, disaccredit you. For this reason, it is important you make every effort to attend.
The strength of a trade union is in its numbers but each and every individual branch has an important part to play in making your union's voice heard. If you attend only one branch meeting a year, make it your AGM and help to set the agenda for you and your fellow local members for the year ahead.
