What happens at an AGM
At an AGM, the branch's executive team for the following year is elected by those present. There need to be at least 10 members present for the meeting to be 'quorate' (ie. for the results of the meeting to be valid). Roles available include branch chair, secretary and treasurer. You will also help the branch ratify your local reps to support members in your branch area for a further year.
Branch executive roles
Read the branch officer role descriptors to decide if any of them appeal to you or chime with your skillset.
If they do, it's advisable (although not compulsory) to attend the branch's meetings and get to know the committee you'd be joining. You'll need to submit an expression of interest by a certain date and written submissions will take precedence over those made verbally at the AGM on the day.
