Choose event information:
Do you work at Royal Liverpool Hospital? We'll be there from 2 – 3 September to talk to you about job evaluation and the band 5 review in England.
How much do you know about job evaluation, the new national nursing job profiles, and how this affects how much you get paid?
We'll be visiting Royal Liverpool Hospital across two days to speak to you about all this and more. We'll have stands where you can come and speak to us outside the atrium, as well as presentations to talk you through job evaluation, with the opportunity to ask us about what you can be doing now and what to expect.
Look out for us around the wards too where we'll be speaking to you and handing out further information and resources.
You can navigate around this page using the tabs at the top to find out more details about where we'll be and when.
Why this matters
Last year, new national nursing profiles were published; these are used as part of the job evaluation process. This, in turn, determines the pay bands for all NHS roles on Agenda for Change contracts.
Your job description is a crucial part of this and needs to be an accurate reflection of your role.
The government has instructed NHS employers in England to review every band 5 job description, but this is just the start. All nursing jobs should be reviewed or have recently undergone a review against these new profiles – no matter which band you’re on.
This is your opportunity to speak to us and highlight your concerns so you feel empowered to engage with the job evaluation process.

North West Pay Delivery Officer Helen O'Boyle

Helen is the Pay Delivery Officer for the North West region of England and brings a broad range of experience from both clinical practice and staff representation within the NHS.
Her career began in Paediatric Intensive Care Nursing, where she developed a strong commitment to patient care, teamwork, and delivering high standards in changing environments. More recently, she worked in Theatre Recovery and had a role as a Clinical Systems Practitioner, gaining valuable insight into the operational and digital aspects of healthcare delivery.
Alongside her clinical career, she has been actively involved in Trade Union representation and staff advocacy. As a former RCN Steward, she supported colleagues through workplace challenges and helped ensure staff voices were heard.
She has also played an active role within her local RCN Branch, contributing to member engagement and professional representation which has provided her with a unique perspective in her role as Pay Delivery Officer. She is passionate about supporting nursing staff, promoting fair pay, and helping members understand and realise their value within the profession.
Helen said: "Over the coming months, I will be visiting trusts across the North West to meet members and nursing colleagues, including management, to talk about our 'Know Your Worth' campaign. I am looking forward to connecting with colleagues around the region, hearing about their experiences, and supporting them to ensure they get the recognition and pay they deserve."
