Join this dynamic 90-minute session to explore what nursing activism really means, why it matters now more than ever, and how you - as an early career nurse - can start influencing the change our profession urgently needs. Leave feeling empowered, inspired, and ready to take your first steps towards making a difference.
By the end of this 90-minute workshop, you will be able to:
- Define nursing activism and describe its key principles within the profession.
- Explain the importance of nursing activism in driving change.
- Identify ways nurses can engage in activism at individual, workplace, or system level.
- Reflect on what matters to you and how you can make a positive difference.
- Develop one actionable idea or commitment to support change in practice.
You’ll hear from:
- Harry Eccles, Head of Activist Engagement here at the RCN, a dual-trained nurse and trainee Advanced Nurse Practitioner. As a former rep and strike volunteer, Harry brings first-hand experience of organising as a rank-and-file member and looks forward to sharing his insights and experiences during the workshop.
The event will be facilitated by:
- Caroline Steven, registered adult health nurse, and Professional Lead Education/ECN Lead here at the RCN. Caroline is passionate about supporting the next generation of nurses to find their place and their voice within the profession. She looks forward to guiding this session and helping participants shape actionable change.
