• Review and approval of the minutes from the 2025 AGM
10:20am - Branch Chair annual report
• Overview of branch activities, achievements and challenges during 2025-2026
• Highlights of member engagement, campaigns and branch development
10:40am - Treasurer's report
• Presentation of the branch financial report
• Overview of branch expenditure and financial position.
10:50am - Representatives' reports updates from:
• Membership representative
• Steward representatives
• Health & Safety representatives
• Learning representative
11:10am - Guest speaker session on 'Supporting staff wellbeing and professional development in Berkshire Branch'*
This session will focus on:
• Staff wellbeing and resilience
• Professional development opportunities for nursing staff
• Supporting career progression and lifelong learning
• Creating positive workplace cultures and supporting retention
*Speaker details to be confirmed prior to the event.
11:40am - Refreshment break
• Tea, coffee and refreshments provided. Networking opportunity with attendees and branch representatives
12:00pm - Branch elections
• Election of branch officers and representatives as required
• Opportunity for members to participate in branch governance and leadership
12:30pm - Members' forum and workplace issues
• Open discussion session for members
• Opportunity to raise workplace concerns and share local experiences
• Discussion of current nursing workforce issues and branch support priorities
1:15pm - Branch objectives and priorities for 2027
• Review of proposed objectives for the forthcoming year.
• Member feedback and discussion on branch priorities.
1:35pm - Recognition and appreciation
• Acknowledgement of branch activists, representatives and volunteers.
• Recognition of contributions made during the year.
1:50pm - Any other business and closing remarks
• Final member questions and comments.
• Formal close of the AGM
Registration refreshments will be available from 9:30am. Refreshments at morning break will be provided free of charge to all attendees.
What is an AGM?
Your Branch AGM is the perfect time to review the year and plan activities for the coming year. It is an opportunity to welcome new members and decide on a committee structure. Any member of a branch can stand for one of the governance roles and if a role is contested an election may be held.
Governance roles
Each Branch must have a chair, treasurer and secretary. What these roles involve is set out here.
Taking on one of these roles is a brilliant opportunity to gain some personal development and you will be supported by the RCN when you start. If you are interested in one of these roles, then please fill out this form before the AGM.
If you are an accredited rep, the AGM is the time when the branch will decide to retain your accreditation, or in some rare cases, disaccredit you. For this reason, it is important you make every effort to attend.
