Open to all, this discussion is for nurses who want to lead confidently in an ever-changing world. Its aim is to remind every nurse that they have the ability and capacity to lead in unprecedented times. Nurses bring care to the patient, wherever that patient may be and whenever the moment calls.
Patients aren’t always in a bed space. They may be on the road, in the air, or even in another country outside of our NHS. This means the nurse must go to the patient. More than ever, nurses must be flexible to overcome the dynamic environments in which our patients receive care. Effective leadership in transient workspaces requires anticipating the challenges of nursing in an uncertain future. Preparing now ensures we remain our best for our patients.
The changing NHS brings an expectation to work across departments, sites and entire Trusts. We must find ways to motivate our teams as they deliver care in unfamiliar environments.
On the road, our ambulatory and transfer services move critically unwell patients through cities and across the country.
Across land, sea and air, Defence medical teams navigate challenges while simultaneously coordinating multiple teams to assist patients around the world.
Our humanitarian nurse leaders place patients and teams before themselves, working under extreme conditions to deliver care where it is needed most.
