Could there be a pay rise hiding in your job description? Join our experts as we dig into the detail of job evaluation and how this is linked to Agenda for Change contracts and the band 5 review in England.
With your help, we secured a commitment from the Westminster government to review every band 5 job description in England by October 2028. If you're a band 5 nurse, it's crucial that you engage with the review, which is being carried out using a scheme contained within your Agenda for Change contract, known as job evaluation.
While the review is starting with band 5s, nursing staff on other bands need to start learning about job evaluation too. Last year, new nursing job profiles were published. Your job descriptions are matched against these national profiles as part of the job evaluation scheme, which is used to determine the pay bands for all NHS roles.
All nursing jobs should be reviewed or have recently undergone a review against these new profiles – no matter which band you’re on.
Why join our webinar
Our experts, RCN England Pay, Terms and Conditions Delivery Officers Justine Somerville and Wesley Auden, will break down the job evaluation scheme and explain what you need to be doing now. This is bigger than just the band 5 review – this is your best chance of a pay rise, ensuring that you are being paid fairly for the work you do now.
Make sure you don't miss out – learning about job evaluation now will help ensure you're prepared to update your job description, ready for when your employer starts the review.
