Job evaluation roadshow: East Surrey Hospital
04 Sep 2026, 10:00 - 13:00
Choose event information:
Do you work at East Surrey Hospital? We'll be there on 4 September to talk to you about job evaluation and the band 5 review in England.
How much do you know about job evaluation, the new national nursing job profiles, and how this affects how much you get paid?
We'll be visiting East Surrey Hospital to speak to you about all this and more. We'll have a stand where you can come and speak to us outside the hospital restaurant. Ask us about job evaluation, what you can be doing now and what to expect.
Look out for us around the wards too where we'll be speaking to you and handing out further information and resources.
If you won’t be at work on 4 September, you’ll have another chance to meet us on 29 September when we’ll be back at East Surrey Hospital to coincide with Surrey and Sussex Healthcare Trust’s wellbeing day. Come and visit our stand in the Annex and look out for us on the wards.
Why this matters
Last year, new national nursing profiles were published; these are used as part of the job evaluation process. This, in turn, determines the pay bands for all NHS roles on Agenda for Change contracts.
Your job description is a crucial part of this and needs to be an accurate reflection of your role.
The government has instructed NHS employers in England to review every band 5 job description, but this is just the start. All nursing jobs should be reviewed or have recently undergone a review against these new profiles – no matter which band you’re on.
This is your opportunity to speak to us and highlight your concerns so you feel empowered to engage with the job evaluation process.

Who will I be able to speak to?
During our visits, in addition to our staff and representatives, you'll be able to meet the pay delivery officer for your region.
South East Pay Delivery Officer Clare Harrison

Prior to joining the RCN in 2011 Clare worked in a business environment, representing small companies.
Since then, she has been a full-time RCN Regional Officer for 13 years, based in the Croydon office and supporting, representing and advising RCN members living in the Kent area.
Clare is currently working as one of two pay delivery officers covering the South East region.
