05 May 2026, 10:00 - 12:00
Choose event information:
Join this workshop to gain confidence in sharing your thoughts and research in a form suitable for publication.
This event is targeted at RCN members who are aiming to write for publication for the first time. Publishing research is essential to shaping the future of nursing standards. Whether in a journal article or book chapter, it is an opportunity to improve current practices by sharing knowledge across the nursing community.
During the workshop you will:
- explore how to create a logical and coherent argument
- discuss the main parts of an article and how to tackle them with confidence
- create a flow of ideas that accurately presents your findings
- gain an enhanced understanding the writing process.
Through writing exercises and discussion, you will learn how to organise your ideas and put your thinking on the page clearly, concisely and convincingly.
Before the workshop:
We ask that participants spend some time beforehand thinking about a writing project to focus on during the workshop. This can be a current project or one you might like to undertake in the future.
This event is being held in partnership with the Royal Literary Fund. Royal Literary Fund writers work in universities, with businesses and charities, and with NHS trusts to show people how to approach and plan different types of writing and to help them feel proud of their finished work.
This is an event for RCN members.
You will need your membership number in order to book. We are offering limited places to ensure participants get the most out of their time with our writers. If you book a place but find you can no longer attend, please cancel your ticket by emailing RCNDEventsRegistration@rcn.org.uk to free it up for others.
