Choose event information:
Time for Music with this uplifting and accessible music-making session.
Experience music as a powerful tool to enhance your wellbeing, feel more grounded, and bring more aliveness and joy into your day.
This 1-hour session, led by Stuart Thomas, is a sample of Open Harmony's wellbeing services for people of all walks of life. No music experience or skill is required to get the most out of the session.
Together we will:
- Learn to breathe more fully through diaphragmatic breathing, improving lung capacity
- Use humming as a mindful activity to improve wellbeing by activating the vagus nerve, regulating the nervous system and reducing stress and anxiety [ref Trivedi et al, (2023)]
- Practise bodily percussion for wellbeing, using drumming as mindfulness, improving coordination and enhancing your enjoyment of music
Open Harmony is a community-led organisation who are passionate about playing music to break down barriers, build harmonious communities, and for each person to explore their full range of experience and capabilities.
This event is online and open to all.
