Do you work at Penn Hospital? We'll be there between 9am and 1pm to talk to you about job evaluation and the band 5 review in England.
How much do you know about job evaluation, the new national nursing job profiles, and how this affects how much you get paid?
We'll be visiting Penn Hospital to speak to you about all this and more. We'll have a stand in the main reception area where you can come and speak to us about job evaluation, with the opportunity to ask us about what you can be doing now and what to expect.

Why this matters
Last year, new national nursing profiles were published; these are used as part of the job evaluation process. This, in turn, determines the pay bands for all NHS roles on Agenda for Change contracts.
Your job description is a crucial part of this and needs to be an accurate reflection of your role.
The government has instructed NHS employers in England to review every band 5 job description, but this is just the start. All nursing jobs should be reviewed or have recently undergone a review against these new profiles – no matter which band you’re on.
This is your opportunity to speak to us and highlight your concerns so you feel empowered to engage with the job evaluation process.

What to expect
Monday 26 October, 9am - 1pm
You'll be able to visit our stand in the main reception area, where we'll be on hand to answer your questions and hand out resources. Keep an eye out for us walking around the hospital as well.
Who will I be able to speak to?
During our visits, in addition to our staff and representatives, you'll be able to meet the pay delivery officer for your region.
West Midlands Pay Delivery Officer Joshua Gooding
Joshua is the Pay Delivery Officer for the West Midlands, supporting members across the region to ensure nurses are recognised, rewarded, and paid fairly for the work they do.
Before joining the RCN, Joshua worked as a paediatric nurse for 13 years at Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, initially as a staff nurse, then charge nurse on the Paediatric Assessment Unit and the Paediatric Virtual Ward. His front-line experience gives him a strong understanding of the challenges that nurses face, and the importance of fair pay and recognition of the workforce.
Joshua is passionate about delivering the RCN’s Know Your Worth campaign, as well as empowering nursing staff to understand job evaluation, recognise the value of their roles, and advocate for the pay and recognition that they deserve. Joshua believes that every member should feel confident in understanding their value and be equipped with the knowledge to ensure their role is recognised appropriately for the valuable work they do.
