Nursing staff on the Isle of Man consulted on three-year pay offer

16 Apr 2026

The RCN North West is to survey members employed by Manx Care on a three-year pay offer over the next two weeks.

A consultative survey will be open from 12 noon on Monday 20 April 2026 to 12 noon on Tuesday 5 May 2026.

The RCN and other trade unions have been involved in pay negotiations with Manx Care for a pay round spanning three years:

2026/27

2027/28

2028/29.

In April 2026, Manx Care proposed a three-year pay settlement linked to the September Consumer Price Index (CPI) each year, with additional percentage uplifts as follows.

2026/27: CPI + 1.75%. Based on the most recent September CPI figure of 2.9%, this equals a 4.65% uplift.

2027/28: CPI + 1.5%. This would be applied to the September CPI for that year.

2028/29: CPI + 1.25%. This would be applied to the September CPI for that year.

Simon Browes, Regional Director for the RCN in the North West, said: “This offer follows extensive consultation between staff side and Manx Care.  The length of the term will mean that we are not constantly asking in retrospect, what our members think of a pay offer which has been the norm for the past few years, delaying paying increases until late on in the year and causing issues for leavers who are missing out on back pay.

“Staff side feel this is a meaningful offer to put to our memberships however, we are not recommending how you vote, just that you do vote.  The RCN negotiations will be led by the feedback of its membership.

“Our members need to inform us if this pay offer shows that Manx Care are valuing their work and contribution to the health and care sector on the Isle of Man, and that they are investing in the sustainable future of nursing and safe patient care.”
