Linda, a registered mental health nurse from Livingston, has been an RCN rep for more than two decades. During this time, Linda’s passion for the nursing profession has shone through, and she has inspired countless colleagues with her exceptional knowledge and commitment. Linda’s nominators praised her professional and compassionate approach to her role as an RCN rep, where she used her position to advocate unwaveringly for the nursing profession.

Tobias Kunkel is a Health and Safety Rep in NHS Lothian, having previously worked as Emergency Nurse Practitioner in the Minor Injury Unit, Western General Hospital. He is RCN Lothian and Borders Branch treasurer and was instrumental in steering the branch through the COVID-19 pandemic. Tobias also represents Scotland on the RCN’s Trade Union Committee and sits on the RCN Scotland Board. Tobias’s nominators praised him as an advocate for wellbeing, empowerment and social justice.

Jon Rogan, a nurse practitioner from Inverness, is an RCN Steward at NHS24. Jon has supported countless colleagues through complex grievances, sickness absence processes, and disciplinary procedures, always ensuring that members feel heard, respected, and empowered. He has been praised for his commitment, compassion and enthusiasm for the role, and was described by nominators as not only an exceptional representative, but also as a natural leader and relentless advocate.

Linda, Tobias and Jon received their awards last night at a ceremony at RCN’s UK headquarters in London.

Colin Poolman, Executive Director, RCN Scotland, said:

“Congratulations to Linda, Tobias and Jon on receiving these well-deserved awards, which recognise their exceptional dedication to the RCN and to the nursing profession as a whole. Their contributions will undoubtedly have a lasting impact, and these awards are a testament to their commitment, enthusiasm and unwavering support for their fellow nursing staff.”

The RCN Awards celebrate the extraordinary dedication, skill and passion that members bring to the nursing profession and the College, providing an opportunity for the College to recognise exceptional individuals, highlight the hard work of members and celebrate the positive changes they deliver.
