Over two years ago a group of Health Visitor Team Leaders working in the Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership reviewed and updated their job description and asked for it to be re-evaluated. Their line manager agreed to updated job description and submitted the request.
However, NHS GGC, failed to follow the agreed once for Scotland job evaluation process and the group are still waiting for a job evaluation panel to consider their application.
NHS GGC HR department has put a series of additional layers of sign off in place which are at odds with the nationally agreed process. They have requested various changes to the job description which had been agreed by line managers in September 2023.
Barbara Sweeney, Senior Officer, RCN Scotland said: “Yet again NHS GGC is letting down its staff and in doing so is letting down patients.
“They have failed to follow nationally agreed job evaluation processes and have left this vital group of nurses feeling ignored, undervalued and demoralised.
“They have failed to learn from the dispute over job evaluation for district nurses which brought us to the brink of strike action. Yet again they are putting significant obstacles in the way of a contractual right and have left us no option but to escalate. The RCN and other trade unions are formally in dispute with the health board and we are again at the point of having to consider asking our members if they would be willing to take industrial action.”
