23 Nov 2024

Today is dedicated to recognising and celebrating nursing support workers – and the skills, dedication and compassion they bring to the lives of patients, families and the entire nursing community.

This Nursing Support Workers’ Day, we're focusing our celebrations on the importance of equity, diversity and inclusion. We’ve launched a new series of films that celebrate the unique backgrounds, experiences and perspectives nursing support workers bring to their roles. The films highlight the wide variety of settings nursing support workers work in and the breadth of roles they do to support and care for people in health and social care settings.

This is the fifth year we’ve celebrated the work of nursing support workers around the UK and the difference they continue to make to countless patients, families and carers.

Ofrah Muflahi Professional Lead, Nursing Support Workers said: “At the RCN, we aspire to be a world-class champion of equity, diversity and inclusion and I’m proud that this year’s Nursing Support Workers’ Day will focus on these important issues.

“Please join us to celebrate the incredible work that all nursing support workers do every single day and shine a light on their contribution in delivering high-quality care to those they care for.”

This is the first time Nursing Support Workers’ Day falls on a Saturday, and we’re hosting a conference at RCN headquarters in London during the day. It will focus on the power of inclusivity within language. Other celebrations are being hosted throughout the UK over the days before and after Nursing Support Workers’ Day too.

Please show your support on social media, using the hashtag #NursingSupportWorkersDay.
