The health board has submitted a proposal on shift harmonisation which would affect colleagues working 12.5-hour shifts. As part of the proposal, an additional unpaid break would be introduced into the shift pattern and staff would be required to make up this time through make-up shifts.
The RCN is consulting on these proposed changes that could affect its members’ working patterns and working lives.
RCN Wales Associate Director of Nursing (Employment Relations) said: “We’re asking RCN members affected by these proposed changes to tell us whether they agree with the proposal and what action they are prepared to take should these be imposed. We are also asking members to encourage eligible colleagues to have their say in the ballot.
"Voting makes all the difference in securing the terms and conditions our members deserve. By taking part in the ballot, our members can help shape the RCN’s response and ensure their views are represented".

Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board is considering proposals that would:
- introduce an additional unpaid break into the 12.5-hour shift pattern
- require staff to make up this unpaid time through additional make-up shifts.
