East Cheshire Trust walkabout to discuss NHSP Nurse Bank rates

We're visiting East Cheshire NHS Trust to hear members' experiences of the recent changes to bank rates, overtime and TOIL.
Many members have told us they are worried about how the Trust is handling additional hours, including the reduction of bank pay rates and reports that overtime is not consistently being offered.
Under Agenda for Change (AfC), a substantive NHS contract sets out clear expectations on how additional hours should be recognised:
• If you work additional hours up to full-time (37.5 hours), these hours should be paid at your normal hourly rate
• Hours worked beyond 37.5 hours should be paid at the appropriate overtime rate, as outlined in AfC
• TOIL can be used only if you choose it. It must not be imposed. If TOIL cannot be taken within three months, you are entitled to overtime pay
We want to understand how these principles are being applied across East Cheshire and where members are experiencing inconsistencies.
RCN North West Officers Paul and Justine will be visiting the Trust on Thursday 11 December between 10am - 4pm.
They will be meeting members throughout the day to:
• Hear what is happening in your ward, unit, or department
• Identify any differences in how additional hours are being managed
• Gather evidence to support a clear, collective RCN response
• Advise members on their contractual rights under AfC
