Abortion care: myths and misconceptions

19 May 2026, 12:45 - 13:30

  • Room 1C, ACC Liverpool , Kings Dock , Liverpool Waterfront , Liverpool , L3 4FP
Hosted by the Women’s Health Forum in collaboration with the Midwifery Forum, and East Sussex Branch

This session will explore common myths and misconceptions surrounding abortion, providing clear, evidence-based answers to frequently asked questions about this essential aspect of health care. Two speakers will contribute: one will address prevalent myths and misinformation, while the other will present anonymised real-life case studies to illustrate the realities of abortion care in practice.

Discussion points will span the clinical, legal, and social dimensions of abortion care across all four UK nations, incorporating perspectives from both independent and NHS settings, including commissioning for abortion care which can be complex. The legal right of conscientious objection will also be examined in a balanced and non-judgemental manner to promote understanding among all attendees.

The session will conclude with an open Q&A segment.
