Beyond borders: stories from health care staff looking after asylum seekers and refugees

20 May 2026, 12:30 - 13:15

  • Room 3A, ACC Liverpool , Kings Dock , Liverpool Waterfront , Liverpool , L3 4FP
Hosted by the Public Health Forum in collaboration with Public Health Forum, Women's Health Forum, and Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust - Inclusion Health Team

Asylum seekers and refugees often face extreme barriers to care.

In this session, the Guy's and St Thomas' Inclusion Health Team will share insights from their work across diverse settings, from hotels and community clinics to outreach on the streets. Through real stories from both patients and practitioners, we’ll explore how the political and policy landscape shapes access to health care, and the practical steps every nurse can take to deliver compassionate, safe, and equitable care to this group.

Join us to challenge assumptions, strengthen your clinical confidence, and rethink how we support this resilient and often overlooked community.
