Exploring career diversity and roles in adult social care nursing: an untapped career pathway
19 May 2026, 17:45 - 18:30
Nursing care is provided across complex health and social care systems, but the understanding of nursing and where it takes place is often centred on the NHS.
There are around 36,000 nurses working in social care settings, caring for the most vulnerable and complex service users; often older people experiencing frailty, and those who have dementia.
Despite this highly specialised care provision, careers and nursing roles in social care are misunderstood. This session aims to dispel myths, open discussions, and demonstrate the value and advanced career opportunities for nurses in social care settings.
This session will bring together evidence-based practice and lived experience to ensure social care nursing is valued across the UK.
