From injury to resolution - the role of the nurse as expert witness and case manager

20 May 2026, 12:30 - 13:15

  • Room 4B, ACC Liverpool , Kings Dock , Liverpool Waterfront , Liverpool , L3 4FP
Sponsored by Bush

This session follows the journey of a client who sustains a life-changing brain injury, exploring how nurses contribute at different stages through roles as expert witness and case manager.

Using a case study, we will demonstrate how clinical expertise translates into medico-legal analysis, rehabilitation planning, and long-term support. The presentation will provide insight into how these roles operate within the legal framework, including liability assessment, application of the Rehabilitation Code, quantum care evaluation, and ongoing case coordination and client support.

The session aims to enhance understanding of advanced nursing career pathways and illustrate how nursing skills underpin both independent expert evidence and client-centred case management.
