Immunisation across the lifespan

05 Jun 2024, 12:30 - 13:15

  • 1B, ICC Wales, Coldra Woods, Newport, NP18 1HQ
Hosted by: RCN Public Health Forum

Immunisation is a proven cost-effective public health intervention. The World Health Organization (WHO) states that immunisation is a global health and development success story, saving millions of lives every year. It is considered one of the greatest public health interventions, second only to clean water. The WHO Immunisation Agenda 2020 has a global vision to leave no-one behind, meaning everyone at every age fully benefits from vaccines for good health and well-being.

This session will highlight the extensive routine vaccine programme in Wales, raise awareness, facilitate confidence, and provide health care professionals/workers with an overview of and issues surrounding vaccination in Wales.

Ideally all those working within health care should have awareness of the importance of vaccination and be able to provide evidence-based information or signpost to trusted sources of information thus making every contact count.

This session will be of interest to registered and non-registered health care staff who regularly provide information on immunisation and/or administer vaccines, but also those who are not regularly involved with vaccination.
