Introduction to pain assessment and management

04 Jun 2024, 08:00 - 08:45

  • 2A, ICC Wales, Coldra Woods, Newport, NP18 1HQ
Hosted by: RCN Pain and Palliative Care Forum

Collaboration: RCN CYP Specialist Care Forum, Pain Nurse Network

Pain is a universal symptom that all individuals will experience at some point in their lifetime. Given that this is such a wide-reaching symptom and has a significant impact on quality of life, it is essential that nursing staff at all levels of practice have a good understanding regarding its assessment and initial management.

This session will explore the principles of pain management across the age ranges, and the role of nursing staff in the assessment and management of pain across care settings. It will be structured around the Essential Pain Management Framework which is an international teaching tool that guides professionals in the assessment and management of pain. The focus will largely be on holistic pain assessment and the importance of recognising and understanding the impact of living with pain.

All delegates are encouraged to attend this session.
