Keynote speaker: Professor Kevin Fong OBE

Dr Fong has had a varied and prestigious career to date, including consultant anaesthetist and anaesthetic lead for Major Incident Planning at UCL Hospitals. He is a leading figure in space medicine in the UK, serving as the co-director of the Centre for Aviation Space and Extreme Environment Medicine (CASE Medicine) at UCL.
Dr Fong earned degrees in astrophysics and medicine from University College London, followed by a master’s degree in astronautics and space engineering from Cranfield University.
He launched the UK’s first undergraduate course in Space Medicine and Extreme Environment Physiology and has contributed to several high-level reviews of human space exploration strategy.
Dr Fong has brought science to the public eye as a presenter of programmes across the BBC and Channel 4.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr Fong was NHS England’s National Clinical Advisor in Emergency Preparedness Resilience and Response.
Dr Fong was awarded an OBE in 2019 for his services to medicine and health care.
