Agenda for Change

This is your guide to the pay, terms and conditions for the NHS, otherwise known as Agenda for Change.

Agenda for Change was implemented in the NHS, across the UK, on 1 December 2004, with pay terms and conditions backdated to 1 October 2004. It was the biggest overhaul of NHS-wide pay, terms and conditions in more than 50 years.

For members working within the NHS, our guide on Agenda for Change will help you to undertand how it was developed, what you can expect from your pay, terms and conditions and how you can make the most of the system, especially the Knowledge and Skills Framework.

Although members working outside the NHS will not be directly affected by Agenda for Change, NHS pay terms and conditions do have an influence on how employers outside of the NHS pay their staff, so it is important that you understand the changes too.
