Speakers
Silvia de Fareri, PhD - Emergency Smile: How Healthcare Clowning Supports Wellbeing in Humanitarian Contexts
- The RED NOSES Emergency Smile research project explores how humour and artistic encounters can support wellbeing in humanitarian settings. Taking place in Lesvos, Greece, over a three-year period, the project examines how the clowns’ activities can help reduce stress, strengthen social connections, and support emotional resilience among displaced children, as well as the field workers who support them. By combining data collection activities with on-the-ground artistic practice, the research aims to deepen understanding of how creativity and humour can play a meaningful role in care and wellbeing for both communities and professionals working in crisis contexts.
Gemma Jolly, Head of Health and Wellbeing at The Reading Agency will share how reading supports health and wellbeing and explore how nurses can get involved in the National Year of Reading, happening throughout 2026.
