The fifth Art of Nursing Webinar, in partnership with Foundation of Nursing Studies, looks at the art of hearing silenced voices.
Join us to find out how the arts help us hear the silenced voices of young people and people seeking asylum.
List of speakers
Jemma Channing is Senior Manager for Creative Health and Change at Arts Council England, an occupational therapist and artist from Margate, who works at the intersection of arts, health and social justice. Jemma will share how museums and galleries can adapt their collections and programmes to reach those seeking asylum, to support their health and wellbeing through creative and cultural engagement.
Christina Gabbitas is an Author and Founder of the Children's Literature Festivals charity, Coronation Champion, is the Great British Creative Businesswoman 2025 and an Honorary Member of the NSPCC Council. Christina will share how storytelling's power to include and educate children and young people on challenging topics, in this case county lines involvement, fosters understanding and empathy through engaging narratives.
Dr Val Huet (PhD) is an Art Therapist, Group Psychotherapist, and Organisational Consultant and Visiting Professor. Val was the CEO of the British Association of Art Therapists from 2003 to 2021 and is an independent evaluator. Val will focus on the evaluation of the Paintings in Hospitals programme Art meets Book in libraries in London with people for whom English is a second language.
Dr Marie Clancy is a children’s nurse and senior lecturer at the University of Exeter leading on the module Art and History of Nursing. Her PhD focused on the experiences of asylum seeker and refugee families in children’s palliative care services, utilising arts-based research approaches. Marie will share her academic findings and in practice, using the arts in nursing.
Dr Marion Lynch is a registered nurse, public health specialist and creative health consultant. Marion leads the Art of Nursing programme. Marion will share how this work is building into a community of action.
Our webinars fit into your busy life, designed so that you may listen on the go or join us whilst you take a moment, and we have a fire side chat.
The webinars are engaging hour-long fire side chats (no slides allowed), bringing interesting people and innovative ideas together to show what is possible and how the arts help us deliver sustainable goals. Five people - nurses, artists, and activists - come together to share their work and inspire others into action.

This is event is open to all, but targeted at nursing and healthcare staff and artists.
