Understand how to compare MARS and VR, explore their impact on members, and share ways to support and challenge employers effectively.
This workshop is aimed at RCN Stewards who are representing members through organisational change, or in situations where employers are offering Mutually Agreed Resignation Scheme (MARS) where a Voluntary Redundancy (VR) could be more appropriate, and fairer for the member.
As employers are looking to cut costs and/or implement government-led restructuring of healthcare services it is imperative that RCN members receive the best possible compensation for their loss of employment, where we are not able to secure their jobs.
This two-hour session will explore the difference between MARS/VR. Participants will focus on the implications for RCN members considering taking either payment. We will identify ways in which to engage, educate and empower members taking part in the process and learn how we can challenge employers when necessary.
