Choose event information:
RCN Cambridgeshire members are invited to your branch learning event and AGM.
The learning session will be led by guest speaker Pauline Shaw, who is an Employer Link Service Adviser from the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC), specialising in social care. A registered nurse with a clinical, caring and leadership background in both the UK and New Zealand, Pauline has worked in adult social care for the past two decades, supporting people to live well with dementia and physical disabilities.
Pauline's role at the NMC is to raise awareness of their Employer Link Service - a supportive resource aimed at helping employers and registrants with professional regulation. In the session, Pauline will cover:
- An introduction to the NMC
- Fitness to practice
- Revalidation and reflection
- The Code – professional standards and behaviour
- Welcome to the UK (for registrants who qualified overseas and have been in the UK for less than 12 months)
The NMC is the independent regulator for nurses and midwives in the UK, and nursing associates in England, and these sessions will help members to understand the regulator, how to stay compliant and where to seek guidance.
The event will give you the opportunity to address concerns about regulatory investigations as well as providing confidence in safe practice, especially to internationally educated nurses who have recently joined the UK nursing profession. This will include help and support to understand cultural and professional adjustments, confidence in practice and inclusion.
As well as our learning event, this session will also incorporate your branch annual general meeting (AGM). If you can attend one branch meeting a year, then please make it the AGM. Come along and help make a difference, by shaping local branch activities for the year ahead and electing your branch committee members. Branch meetings provide opportunities for you to have your say on how the branch is run and learn more about the activities it undertakes.
Why not consider standing for one of the branch committee posts, which includes branch chair, secretary and treasurer? Being a branch committee member is a great personal and professional development opportunity. Find out more about the roles here. If you'd like to nominate yourself for a committee position, please use this form.
For those joining online, a link to join the meeting on Microsoft Teams will be sent to you once you register your details to attend. When joining the meeting, please make sure you are clearly identified with your name on screen so we can admit you quickly to the event. If you have any accessibility requirements, please let us know when booking your place. If joining from a mobile device, you may find it useful to download the MS Teams app in advance of joining the session.
We look forward to seeing you at a meeting soon.
