Choose event information:
Aseptic technique is a core nursing skill. Preventing contamination of wounds, susceptible sites and invasive devices is key to protecting our patients from infection and the harmful consequences this brings.
At the request of members, the Royal College of Nursing has been working to understand the practical challenges associated with aseptic technique, effective hand hygiene and the implications for the evolution of clinical practice undertaken across a range of patient care settings. The RCN has been carrying out this assessment in collaboration with SC Johnson Professional.
This seminar will reflect on RCN findings to date and focus on how consensus regarding theory, risk assessment and techniques can inform contemporary practice and modern-day care delivery acknowledging the many patient and external influences on practice. Focusing on the context in which aseptic technique can be undertaken and emerging innovations and priorities such as sustainability attendees will contribute to recommendations to shape and inform evolving clinical practice and education.
Please note these programme details and timings are subject to change. A final programme will be available at the event.
