RCN retired members represent a vital connection to the RCN’s legacy, values, and collective experience. This one-day, in-person conference aims to revitalise activism among retired nurses and strengthen their voice within and beyond the RCN.
This event will gather members to share experiences, shape strategies, and begin building new resources for post-retirement engagement.
Our retired members are the backbone of the RCN’s history - and essential for our future.
Join us on Monday, 15th September, from11 till 3:30 (registration open from 10) for an empowering in-person event designed to celebrate your contributions, strengthen our community, and shape the future of nursing together.
Through interactive sessions, we’ll focus on:
1. Structures in the RCN and staying engaged post-retirement. Here we will explore how retired members can stay active in the life of the RCN. Together, we’ll begin shaping a retired members welcome booklet to help new retirees find their place in RCN activism and organising.
2. Activism through the RCN, leadership, mentorship and organising. A powerful panel discussion looking at how activism can thrive after retirement. The session will also introduce the RCN’s new activism strategy.
3. Activism beyond the RCN, external influence and representation. This session will connect RCN retirees to broader movements for social and economic justice. Learn how you can take part in national campaigns on pensions, care, housing, and more.
Let’s come together to celebrate our past, strengthen our present, and shape the future of nursing.
