The recent Supreme Court judgement on the legal definition of sex in the Equality Act 2010 has raised important questions for the future of nursing practice.
We continue to champion equality, inclusion and human rights across the profession – and stand in support of our LGBTQIA+ members, many of whom have faced much distress since the Supreme Court’s judgment.
As your trade union and professional body, we want to understand how this judgment affects you in your role and your workplace. We recognise that some members will have questions about how the judgment may affect employment practice as well as clinical practice, and concerns about their ability to protect the privacy and dignity of patients.
We are inviting all members to attend an online or in-person session which will provide a safe, inclusive space for you to share your thoughts. You can sign up for the event using the button above. Please note that this is an in-person session.
By taking part, you’ll help shape the RCN’s professional guidance and positioning and learn more about our response to the Equality and Human Rights Commission consultation on the statutory guidance.
