Adult Inpatient Nursing Focus Groups
13 Jan 2026 - 14 Jan
Choose event information:
We are seeking registered nurses working in adult inpatient settings in Scotland to take part in online focus groups in January 2025.
The focus groups are the first step in research led by Edinburgh Napier University and the University of Pennsylvania, examining how reliable the Adult Inpatient Tool is in determining staffing levels.
At the focus groups, you will help to develop hypothetical descriptions of the patients cared for in acute adult inpatient settings and to create a realistic picture of how different types of patients impact nurses' workloads. This will then be used in a wider survey of nurses across Scotland.
See the focus groups dates and times below (you only need to attend one):
- 13 January 2026, 2pm - 3:30pm
- 14 January 2026, 3:30pm - 5pm
The study and focus groups are being run by the VALIDAIT team at Edinburgh Napier University. If you have any queries, get in touch with the team at: VALIDAIT@napier.ac.uk.
Your help in shaping this study is much appreciated – together we can strengthen the evidence base for safe nurse staffing in Scotland.
