Health and social care services in Wales are at the top of the political agenda. This programme explores how the political environment sets the context for the individual practitioner and the organisation. It will expand your knowledge of how health and social policy are shaped in Wales.
This course encourages participants to engage with strategic policy and provides the tools for such engagement and for influencing the wider agenda.
As a participant in the RCN Wales Political Leadership Programme you will hear from influential guest speakers, carefully selected from a range of current and former politicians and nursing leaders.
The programme is delivered over two consecutive days with a blended learning approach which includes interactive discussion and practical workshops.
This course will appeal to those who want to:
- Understand how political decisions shape healthcare policy and the wider health and care workforce
- Influence change in health and social care policy at local or national levels
- Develop practical strategies to engage with and shape policy agendas
- Navigate the legislative and policy landscape of devolved government in Wales
- Build relationships and gain support from key external stakeholders
- Enhance their leadership capabilities within their profession and across the health and care system
The overall aim is to develop individuals, teams and organisations to influence health, health policy and health care.
Open to all nursing roles, both RCN members and non-members.

Course fees
The course fee is £400 plus VAT, which includes registration for the course, course materials, lunch and refreshments.

You can also download and complete a booking form via the 'Download booking form' button above. Payments can be made via credit card/Maestro, invoice (purchase order required), or BACS.
To pay by invoice you must send all of the below to eventsreg@rcn.org.uk
1. A copy of the Purchase Order document from your organisation or company (we cannot process your order without it)
2. Your Finance department/accounts payable contact email address to receive an electronic copy of the invoice from us
3. A completed RCN Events Booking Form for each delegate in the booking.
Once the invoice has been raised, you will then receive confirmation of your delegate booking on the event requested. Invoices are to be paid within 30 days of the invoice being issued.
