RCN North Staffordshire members are invited to the last branch event of the year, which will incorporate two online learning sessions. The first will focus on understanding and embracing neurodiversity, while the second will provide an introduction and overview of North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust's Parent and Baby Day Unit service.
Embracing neurodiversity
Presented by Angela Peake, Differently Abled Buddy Scheme Lead at Staffordshire Training Hub, this session is designed to enhance workplace dynamics by promoting a deeper understanding of neurodiversity. It will:
- Dispel myths
 - Encourage inclusive communication
 - Explore the benefits of diverse perspectives within teams
 - Examine the importance of inclusive language
 - Help attendees understand the challenges of neurodivergent colleagues

Introduction/overview of the Parent and Baby Day Unit service
Presented by Surina Ainsworth, Senior Community Perinatal Mental Health Nurse with North Staffordshire Combined Healthcare Trust, this session will explore the Parent and Baby Service, a specialist perinatal secondary mental health service interested in the prevention, detection and management of perinatal problems that complicate pregnancy and the postpartum year.
These problems can include new difficulties, recurrences of previous difficulties, and those women who have existing mental health problems. The team at the Parent and Baby Service provides a comprehensive service of high intensity with customised treatments for parents with psychological disorders associated with pregnancy and childbirth.
The session will outline referral routes, who the team work with, the support they offer, and the ways to access the pathways to care.
