Choose event information:
Open to all nursing professionals and students, this learning event is focused on enhancing skills, deepening understanding, and sharing best practices in palliative, end-of-life, and holistic care. The workshop is being held at Birmingham Newman University, with an option for attendees to join online if they can't make it in person.
Led by Danny Thompson, Deputy Director of Care Practice Development & Quality Assurance at ACORNS Hospice, the aim of the session is to inspire and equip health care professionals, and the next generation of health care professionals, through palliative and holistic care education.
ACORNS Hospice provides care, support, fun, and laughter for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions and their families. In the past year alone, it has supported 781 children and 1,045 families, including those who have been bereaved.
This learning event draws on that extensive experience to share the values and practices that define its approach to compassionate, family-centred care.
The session will offer an inspiring mix of interactive sessions, real-world case studies and reflective learning, all grounded in the realities and rewards of caring for children and families in the most vulnerable moments of life.
What you’ll gain:
- A deeper understanding of children’s palliative and hospice care
- Practical tools for delivering compassionate, person-centred care
- Insights into working within multidisciplinary teams
- Inspiration from those leading the way in paediatric and community nursing
Whether you're a student starting your journey or a practicing nurse seeking new perspectives, this event is a space to learn, connect, and grow, both professionally and personally.
