This online learning event will outline the role of the Gangmasters & Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA), look at how health care staff can help them in their work, and outline what steps to take if they have any concerns. The session will be followed by a branch meeting.
The GLAA works to protect vulnerable and exploited workers through the intelligence they receive from their inspections, the public, industry and other government departments.
They investigate all aspects of worker exploitation and illegal activity such as human trafficking, forced labour and illegal labour provision, as well as offences under the National Minimum Wage and Employment Agencies Acts.
The GLAA also work with partner organisations such as the police, the National Crime Agency and other government law enforcement agencies to target, dismantle and disrupt serious and organised crime across the UK.
Presented by Andrew Brown, National Investigations Lead (North) for the GLAA, this session will give an overview of signs that may identify vulnerable and exploited workers and explain how health care staff can report any concerns they may have.
The branch meeting after the presentation will discuss updates within the RCN South Birmingham branch, and the branch executive will answer any questions members might have regarding branch activities.
To register your attendance, please book your place here. Once you have registered, you will receive a confirmation email which includes the link to join the Microsoft Teams meeting on the day.
