Black History Month celebration
Olga Leach-Walters is a proud nurse and passionate advocate for equality, representation, and the voices of Global Majority healthcare professionals. From the shores of the Caribbean to the snow of Canada, through the beautiful scenery of Switzerland and to historic cities and rolling countryside of Great Britain, Olga’s career in the healthcare sector has been a rich journey shaped by diverse cultures, experiences, and a deep commitment to caring for others.
Over the years, Olga has taken on roles that span both frontline care and professional leadership. She is an active workplace representative, a Branch member, and currently serves as a Council Member for the Royal College of Nursing, representing the West Midlands. Through these roles, she champions fair treatment, leadership opportunities, and career progression for all nurses and midwives, especially those from racially and ethnically diverse backgrounds.
Her work is grounded in a strong belief that every nurse’s voice should be heard and that lasting change begins when we show up for each other. From the bedside to the boardroom, Olga’s mission is to create spaces where all staff feel seen, heard, and valued.
During this Black History Month, Olga shares her personal journey of service, leadership, and advocacy, encouraging others to rise, speak out, and believe in the power of their voice.
