Bristol nurse academic made Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing at RCN annual Congress

Professor Nikki Cotterill, a Professor in Continence Care in the College of Health, Science and Society, and Director of Bristol Health Partners’ Bladder and Bowel Confidence Health Integration Team at the University of the West of England, Bristol, had her service to nursing recognised with the Royal College of Nursing’s highest honour in an award ceremony at the opening of the College’s annual Congress in Brighton this week.

She was made a Fellow of the Royal College of Nursing, the highest honour a Royal College of Nursing member can be awarded.

Professor Cotterill said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to become a Fellow at the Royal College of Nursing. Many congratulations to all who received awards this year – I am in fantastic company.”

Professor Cotterill is determined to raise the profile of incontinence and transform the landscape for people with bladder and bowel leakage. 

She has launched the the CONfidence app that has improved quality of life for many sufferers and is determined to do more. 

She is a passionate advocate for nursing research and believes that we can all be drivers for change in patient care. 

RCN Fellows are inspirational leaders who have made an exceptional contribution to nursing and improving health care.

A distinguished community of professionals, RCN Fellows work with the RCN to influence policy, practice, education and research. In doing so, they are leading and influencing change for the benefit of nursing and ultimately, patients.  

A fellowship gives the fellow the right to use the letters FRCN after their name.
