Accreditation and endorsement

RCN Accreditation

The mark of quality and professionalism within the nursing sector.

RCN Accreditation is a mark of quality. By gaining accreditation you are aligning your organisation to the RCN's high standards, ultimately promoting best practice and improving patient care.

We accredit a wide range of programmes including events, eLearning, credit-bearing degrees, hard copy resources, guidelines, standards and competency frameworks.

RCN accreditation is beneficial for your organisation:

  • It will ensure you stand out from the crowd. Using the RCN Accredited logo sets your learning and development initiative apart from your competitors.
  • It aligns your organisation with the RCN’s reputation for excellence within the nursing sector. RCN accreditation represents quality, best practice and rigour.
  • It helps you to validate the educational outcomes from your programme. Your delegates will receive a certificate which can be used as evidence in their revalidation portfolio.
  • It's a development opportunity. Each programme undergoes an external peer review and the feedback received will provide you with an additional perspective.
  • It ensures you will attract high calibre delegates. The kudos attached to RCN accreditation appeals to individuals and employers who want to ensure their learning and development initiative delivers a high standard of learning, is fit for purpose and promotes best practice.

The accreditation team will support you throughout the application process. We are on hand to answer your queries or to hold a self-assessment workshop. Our self-assessment workshops can ensure your programme delivers effective education outcomes. They can be undertaken at any time before submitting your application for external peer review.

The Royal College of Nursing notes that there are several types of software and Apps for use in health and social care. The RCN is supportive of the work of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence and its collaborators in developing an assessment tool for Apps used for health and social care. Until such time that a credible assessment tool becomes available the RCN is not in a position to endorse or accredit Apps.

If and when the RCN decides to endorse/accredit Apps we will develop an effective and appropriate process and quality assurance framework for it.
