We are excited to announce that Dr Karen Treisman, Clinical Psychologist, Author and Trainer, Safe Hands and Thinking Minds, will be joining us to present the morning session.

Pauline has a background in general nursing, Midwifery and more latterly Public Health Nursing (School Nursing) as well as being a qualified Practice Educator.
Pauline’s interest in the health needs of children in care started when she worked as a school nurse where she also sat for six years on panel for an Independent Fostering Agency. She has worked in both Specialist and Designated roles for Children in Care since 2008 in Gloucestershire. Pauline is passionate about the need to reduce health inequalities and level the playing field for children in the care system and people who are care experienced across their lifespan.
Pauline is particularly interested in supporting her nursing colleagues who work in this unique speciality and making sure that we have a well informed and highly trained workforce to support succession planning into the future.
Corina Christos, RCN Children in Care Nurses Network, Designated Nurse for Children In Care, North West London ICB
Corina is a paediatric nurse, who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and young people in the public health arena. She has been practicing for twenty years across acute and community settings. Having started her career as a staff nurse at the Bristol Royal Hospital for Children before moving into School Nursing, Corina is currently the Designated Nurse for Looked After Children for Westminster, Kensington and Chelsea, and Hammersmith and Fulham.
Corina is an active member of the RCN steering group for Children and Young People Staying Healthy Forum and current co-chair of the RCN LAC Network, influencing practice improvement and ensuring issues related to the care of children and young people in the community setting, particularly children in care, are represented at a national level.
Corina firmly believes in the importance of pushing boundaries to find creative, innovative and evidence-based approaches to achieve practice improvement and improved outcomes for children and young people.

Dr Karen Treisman, Clinical Psychologist, Author and Trainer, Safe Hands and Thinking Minds
Dr Karen Treisman, MBE, is a Clinical Psychologist, Trainer, Organizational Consultant and Author of 13 books and 5 sets of therapeutic cards. Karen has experience working in numerous different local authorities, NHS teams, and abroad in Africa and Asia. Karen specialises in working with and supporting those who work with relational and developmental trauma.
Cathy Jermey, Designated Nurse for Children in Care and Care leavers, NHS Devon ICB
Cathy is one of the Designated Nurses within NHS Devon and has worked with Children and Young People in Care and Care Leavers for over 18 years.
Cathy’s main interest is participation work, listening to the voice of children and young people and ensuring that they are included within service development to meet the specific needs of our cared for population. Her other focus areas include the health of Asylum-Seeking Young People, the health and development of the Under 5s, public health, and the health of Care Leavers.
Cathy is a member of the Coram BAAF Health Advisory Committee and has co-written the Rees Foundation national training for Personal Advisors on meeting the health needs of Care Leavers.
Jade Simmons, Clinical Team Manager for Children in Care and Care Leavers (Devon / Torbay), Child and Family Health Devon
Jade is a Clinical Team Manager for Children in Care and Care Leavers for Child and Family Health Devon (CFHD) and has worked in the team for 6 years.
Previously Jade worked as a Paediatric Nurse and as a School Health Nurse.
Jade is dedicated to working with the wider team to improve health outcomes for the cared for community and delivers training to professionals. Jade’s champion role is sexual health and she is committed to improving service delivery for children with additional needs.
Sarah Greenshields, Assistant Professor, Northumbria University
Sarah Greenshields is an Assistant Professor at Northumbria University. Since 2018, she has taught on both the Children and Young People’s and Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Programmes. Prior to this Sarah worked in School Nursing for seven years, qualifying as a SCPHN and leading a team. Whilst in this role one aspect of responsibility was completing the child in care health assessments.
Sarah is an academic advisor for the School and Public Health Nurses Association (SAPHNA). Sarah has a master’s in public health nursing, and in October 2024 is due to complete her doctorate focused on exploring the impact of care experience on diet and eating practices. She has several publications including one in the British Journal of Nursing, focused on the needs of children and young people in care.
The conference is open to all nurses, student nurses, nursing support workers and allied health professionals working in academic, clinical, and professional settings in the UK and overseas.
