International nursing members

Information, guidance and advice for international members, working in the UK and overseas.

If you are an international nursing professional who currently works or would like to work within the UK - the RCN welcomes you. With over 465,000 members, we are the world’s largest nursing trade union and professional body.

Temporary NMC register reopens to internationally trained nurses

The NMC has opened its Covid-19 temporary register to people in the UK who have trained internationally as nurses. This action has been taken to lighten the increasing pressures on health and social care services in the UK. Employers can now nominate international nurses who are already on a pathway to their “OSCE” exam and full NMC registration. Nurses cannot apply directly to the NMC and nominate themselves.
